LUX-LIFE:  Vuitton to Sponsor Student Film Award with a ‘Life as a Journey’ Theme

Grab your video cameras LUX movie-enthusiasts, well only if you are a film student of course!

Louis Vuitton has just announced last week at the Venice film festival that they will be awarding two student filmmakers for the most impressive 2-minute film segment depicting ‘life as a journey.’

“It’s a way of getting in touch with all these young talents and seeing what they have inside of them,” said Vuitton’s communications director Antoine Arnault.

Film students from all the most prestigious film schools are called to participate in what is referred to as the ‘Journey Awards.’ Over $25,000 worth of prizes will be granted and the deciding factor will include public opinion!! This includes YOU! wink

Basically, each winner will be selected using two separate methods. One from a designated jury and the other by popular (public) vote!! The mini films will be available for preview at a web site available soon. The first winner will be announced as early as this November.

Interesting fact is that this new contest is was not designed in as a way to promote Vuitton accessories in anyway, so the contestants are asked to not feature Vuitton products in their segments. Though, these short vignettes’ might be incorporated into future marketing campaigns for the brand, so we will have to wait and see.

So LUX Nation, do you think this is a creative campaign by the brand to help showcase new up and coming talent??
